I’ve been running for a few years now, but it wasn’t until I joined a run club that I started to push my boundaries and consistently challenge myself to outdo my PBs. Although I was initially drawn to the social aspect of the Nike Run Club, it’s the brand’s commitment to keeping us challenged that makes me come out each and every week with the same level of enthusiasm I had when I first joined.
First, it was training for the Nike Women 15k Race and now it’s all about “finding my fast.” A perfect change of pace from the distance-running program I followed so diligently, Nike’s Find Your Fast challenge is exactly what I need as I also train for my very first sprint triathlon later this summer. (Yes, I know…as one of my friends teases me about: #toomuchactive.)
The Find Your Fast challenge kicked off with a surprise one-mile race a couple weeks ago and will end with another one on August 30, 2024, as those participating aim to run their fastest mile ever. For added motivation, the date was chosen to coincide with the World Track and Field Championships in Beijing, which the fastest elites from around the world will be competing in. Those looking for even more inspiration may want to check out the So Fast campaign.
On top of the eight-week Find Your Fast running program Nike has created, there’s also a 12-week NTC program to ensure those taking up the challenge supplement their running schedule with some much-needed cross training. This can be accessed through the NTC app.
Together, I hope to beat my time at the kick-off by a solid minute. That might be a lofty goal, but I’m pretty sure I can do it!
