The 40th annual Toronto International Film Festival kicks off today, bringing the glitz and glamor of Hollywood north of the border. It’s an exciting time for the city; not only because of the visiting A-list celebrities, but also for all the events taking place in every corner of the downtown core.
I used to be a huge celebrity junky, a side effect of loving the movie and television industry a bit too much. I may have cut back on time-sucking websites, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the work they do and the lifestyles they lead. Not only do I hope to see a few of the films this year, I was also lucky enough to preview one of the best lounges they will be stopping by: Tastemakers.
Packed with Sorel footwear, Pommies cider, a Tweezerman brow station and so much more, it’s a must-stop destination. Hosted by rock-it promotions, it’s the original lounge as well. Rock-it founder Debra Goldblatt-Sadowski launched it in 2005 after noting the lack of such swag events in Canada. Now in it’s 11th year, Tastemakers is a great break from all the flashing lights and red carpets.
