Let’s face it: Winter is no one’s friend. The term “hibernation” exists for a reason and while those living in cold climates are given good incentives to emerge from the cave that is their home to be productive human beings, no amount of complaining is too much.
But there’s no room for complaining when it comes to Nike’s latest campaign, #GetOutHere. Remember a time when the cold was nothing and snow was full of endless possibilities? It’s a sad day when you realize that child-like wonder has been buried by adult responsibilities. Yet over a six-week period, a few of us are being reminded what it was like to be a kid during winter – in as athletic a way as possible, of course.
Our #GetOutHere journey kicked off with a football-themed workout led by Eric Black and Eva Redpath. Fast-paced and incredibly dynamic, we were laughing the entire time – when we weren’t doubled over from the effort.
Unfortunately, I missed the first official #GetOutHere workout when I escaped what ended up being a second summer in Toronto for the heat of Jamaica. Although I still managed to stay active on vacation, I had huge FOMO over Coach Inge’s H.I.T. style workout.
Last week we once again followed Eric’s lead with some resistance band running drills while Nike+ Run Club manager Paulina Maher took us through a series of hill sprints.
I honestly can’t wait to see what Nike has in store for us this week. Those who want to join in on the fun will want to hit up the Nike.com/Toronto page tomorrow at 8am to sign up for a series of special events between November 19-21.
I stumbled into the world of social media. I may have been blogging for years (for other publications), but I only started to entertain the idea of doing it for myself this year. My ultimate dream has always been to become a novelist Continue reading
