Triathlon training and two music festivals later, my body has been in a state of bad repair. Overused and abused, it was with immense relief that I remembered a gift certificate I was given to the recently opened Blitz Facial Bar.

An offshoot of the Body Blitz Spa, which is known not only for divine massages but also relaxing waters reminiscent of the famous Roman Baths, the Blitz Facial Bar is set to revolutionize the way women pamper themselves. Carving out 30 minutes to get a refreshing treatment makes such services incredibly accessible. The fact that the bar maintains a spa ambiance makes the experience even more enjoyable.

I visited Blitz Facial Bar’s east end location and was immediately greeted by a friendly face. I was handed a digital waiver and ushered to a comfortable seat to await my esthetician. Soon after, I was directed to a row of reclining chairs – a setup that reminded me of a hair or nail salon.

The express service didn’t mean the esthetician was about to start right away. Instead, she asked me a few short questions to ensure I was requesting the right treatment. The basic Blitz + Glow facial was exactly what I needed, but after experiencing a bit of a breakout I thought I could benefit from an additional spot treatment as well. Her inquiries, however, revealed that the “booster shot” I was looking for was something to make my complexion brighter.

Once we narrowed down exactly what my skin needed, she got to work and I essentially took a 30-minute nap. I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated throughout the process I might as well have been in my own private room.

Sometimes it’s tough to justify spa luxuries no matter how well deserved they may be. Blitz Facial Bar takes the guilt out of the equation by providing services that are affordable and fast. Since I may take on a bit too much on any given day (or week or month), this the city escape I’ve been waiting for.
