There’s a great debate surrounding the movement of producing local and shopping local. As endless as the benefits may seem, there are benefits to procuring merchandise and labor internationally as well. That might come off as a very controversial statement, but that’s not the point I’m trying to get into. Instead, when it comes to local products, there’s something to be said of brands going the extra mile to help make an even bigger difference.
The Saltwater Collective and Peace Collective are two such brands straight out of Toronto, Canada. Not only are they local, their designs are dope and the giveback involves so much more.
Focused on ocean conservation, Saltwater Collective strives to be more of a movement than a brand. It’s mission is to bring much needed attention to our oceans and how they are crucial to a healthy planet. Proceeds from each purchase to an international organization called Oceana, supporting their ocean conservation efforts around the globe.

Peace Collective focuses on a cause a lot closer to home. Every purchase helps hungry children across Canada through Breakfast for Learning. Both of these “collectives” appeal to the cool kid generation that is as concerned about the betterment of the world as it is with Instagram.
Social media might have its faults, but when it comes to spreading any kind of message, it’s definitely one of those “keys to success.” The Saltwater Collective and Peace Collective utilize these platforms to spread their messages in order to make a positive impact on the world.
